Worth every cent!!

I moved to Lexington in 2005 and needed to highlight my hair again. I would stop random people with good highlights and ask where they got their hair done. Most of them said they went home (somewhere other that Lexington) to get their hair done. Finally, I found someone who got her hair done here. She said she went to Tom at Planet Salon. I called and asked about pricing, which was a little more than I could afford being on a grad student stipend, but I made the appointment anyway...and I am sooooo glad I did. Tom did the best job anyone has ever done on my highlights, but that wasn't the thing that amazed me the most. I have wavy/curly hair that I straighten and, although I've had some good colorists before, they would always try to do some 80s hot-rolled curly mess. (If I came in with straight hair, what makes you think I want to leave any other way?) I was used to leaving the salon with pretty good highlights but a less than stellar hairstyle, and then going home to style it myself...until Tom. The color was perfect (looked like the blonde highlights grew right out of my scalp) and the style was amazing!!!!!! It was so straight and so smooth; it was better than when I style it. So, about a month ago, this poor grad student couldn't afford Planet Salon at the moment, but I wanted highlights anyway. I decided to go somewhere else because it was cheaper. Well, let's just say I'll never "cheat" on Tom again. My hair looked awful!! She left about 1/2" of roots showing and she did the 80s hot-rolled thing even though I came in with straight hair. So, after saving a little money, I went back to Tom. And, of course, my hair looks FABULOUS!!! Some people think Planet Salon is overpriced, but I think you get what you pay for. It may be considered "expensive" to someone like a grad student, but overpriced?? No way!! Tom is worth EVERY cent!! I'll never stray again.....

Rude Staff

I've been to both the Richmond Road and Hamburg locations. I keep trying to like Planet Salon because I've read good things about them on this website, but I just don't. The Hamburg location had a stuck up receptionist who smugly asked me if I had just been to the gym (it was my day off and I happened to be wearing yoga pants). I also had to wait for almost half an hour past my appointment time for my stylist. I was not happy with the haircut I received at all. The next time I decided to go to the Richmond Road location. The stylist was very friendly and gave me a decent cut. The salon, however, was dirty and there was a table full of booze for an upcoming evening party. I felt this was incredibly classless. Also, my stylist told me what the cost would be and when I got to the counter to check out the receptionist (who I actually think was a beginning stylist who didn't have a client at the time) conferred with my stylist and I ended up paying about $60 more. I really want to like this salon and get the results that others have. I just simply haven't. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

The stylist rushed my visit. Did not listen to me. I even told him I did not want layers. I have short layers. Salon was dirty. Will not be back.

Everything I wanted

I have went around from salon to salon searching for someone to tell me what would look good on me. I mean your hairdresser is supposed to know better than anyone, right? Well, I found what I was looking for. These people are great. Not only did I get a great new style, but I would say that I have never been treated better. The desk person was nice and even the other hairdressers who wasn't doing my hair spoke to me and offered me a drink. What?? That is crazy. I love it. Will be back.

The BEST!!

I love going to Planet Salon! They are always friendly and offer the best service. I just switched from my old hair dresser to Planet Salon and have been completely satisfied! I recommend Planet Salon to all of my friends, whether its getting your hair done or getting a nice relaxing massage! They are the best!!

wow....I VISITED PLANET SALON ON RICHMOND ROAD FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS WEEK.BESIDES THE STAFF BEING WONDERFUL OFFERING ME DRINKS,ASKING ME IF I WAS COMFORTABLE...I HAVE NEVER HAD A BETTER EXPERIENCE AT A SALON,MARCELLA THE MASTER STYLIST TOOK CARE OF ME...I REALLY DIDNT KNOW WHAT I WANTED,JUST A CHANGE.I RECEIVED THE BEST COLOR AND CUT IVE EVER HAD........VERY HAPPY WILL ALWAYS BE TRUE TO MARCY....

The best salon in lexington

I have been going to Planet Salon for many years now, and would not trust my hair to another stylist ever. The location is convienent and I can always get in for an appointment, the stylist listen to me and respect my wishes reguarding what I would like to have done. I would highly recommend this salon to everyone.

I have been going to Planet Salon for over 7 years and I LOVE them! I have ethnic hair and they always tend to keep me up to date with the latest relaxers, proper care of and styles of my hair. I have only once came out not happy and when that happen they quickly took care of the situation. The staff is friendly, hardworking and dedicated. They have been a great save to me when it comes to last minute appointments by walking-in. I have observed them worknig with those going to the proms or weddings. I was very impressed with the up do's and styles tha tthey did with the women. I have always suggested to family, friends and co workers to visit Planet Salon. I have friends who like to go to the salon, not only for hair styling, but as well for massages, pedicaures, manicures and facials! I have never been displeased or unsatisfied with Planet Salon and the services that they provide!

Wouldn't go anywhere else

I have been going to Planet Salon for 4 years now and there is not another hair place i would go to. I have advised all my friends and family to try them out. If you go just once you will be hooked. They are extremely professional and very helpful.

lexingtons best salon !!!!!!

Planet Salon located on Richmond road is AWESOME great location to get in and out without all the traffic ,the stylist cater to all your needs and make sure you feel pampered as you should when going to a salon.I have been getting highlights for far too many years to mention.... I have been a patron at many salons where i felt rushed in and out and did not feel like anything but another number and payed quite a bit for this treatment and my hair nine times out of ten was not what i wanted or felt like straw after i washed it again,not at Planet Salon I have been A patron there for several years now,and I have never left the salon unhappy with my hair. they also offer anything you need for a great spa day out.. Im looking forward to giving Planet Salon gift certificates to my sons girlfriend for christmas.

Very Unimpressed

I was a first-time customer at this salon and I decided to go there because of the positive reviews on this website. But the experience wasn't worth it. I was very disappointed. The hair cut was mediocre but the experience itself was the worst part. I was left in the shampoo chair for about 10 minutes for the conditioner to "set", then the stylist came back and smelled of cigarette smoke. I was left there so that this person could take a smoke break? Then the stylist spent the whole time I was in the chair talking to the clients that were being worked on next to me, while ignoring me. The stylist left me there a few times, once to turn up the music because s/he "liked this song". Shouldn't the client be the main focus? And although the cut was ok, the way the stylist styled my hair was horrible. I said I didn't like lots of product on my hair, and s/he said that was because I used the wrong product, then DRENCHED my hair in a sticky mess. I left the salon embarrassed due to the style and immediately put it up in a pony tail. The stylist didn't listen to me, ignored me, left me a number of times to smoke, turn up music, or do other things, and I left the salon with hair the size of a beauty pageant contestant. This is NOT the way to win new customers. I won't be returning.
