Sit outside in the summer and forget that you are landlocked. The tropical atmosphere is quite surprising. Try the conch dinners. Seriously, it's good.

Poor customer service, watery drinks and low quality food, oh my!

I'm not sure what has happened to this restaurant but all aspects of it have gone down hill. I have always had great experiences at Atomic Cafe, not only great food and drinks but a great atmosphere on their patio. But my most recent visit will be my last. The mixed drinks were either watery tasting or just not good and we tried a bunch of different drinks. The Sweet Potato Chip appetizer was good along with the Coconut Shrimp, but those were the only high points. One person in our group ordered the veggie plate which consisted of a salad, red beans and rice, mac and cheese and asparagus. The asparagus was ok but that was the only positive. The salad was not edible. The "famous" mac and cheese had no cheese taste, the pasta tasted old and there was some spice that was over-used ... not good. When my friend complained about the food she was told she had eaten too much of to have it removed from her bill. The waitress talked to the owner and the owner did not even come out to address the complaint. This use to be one of my favorite places, but with so many things wrong during this visit, it is now off my list. There are too many other places in town to choose from.

• Pros: The patio atmosphere is good.
• Cons: Poor quality food and drinks and poor customer service.

Service with a smile!

Excellent saturday night date place! Nice and clean inside and out, very friendly attentive wait staff. I had the ribeye steak with garlic mashed potatoes-really good. They bring out cornbread cut in squares and it really rounds off the meal. Decent beer selection too. I recommend getting there early because the wait can be substantial. A sign of a successful operation for sure! Its one of my best bets in downtown Lexington!

• Pros: Attentive wait staff, excellent value, varied menu
• Cons: parking on the street-especially on saturday nights.

Summer Time

A great spot to hit on those Summer weekends. Super patio and live music you can't help but to enjoy.
