Keep looking

Contributor at Insider Pages

Keep on looking. The clinic is beautiful and the staff, for the most part, is very nice. The doctor, however ruins it. I took my cat there one time this winter, and will never go back! My cat acted perfectly for me and the technicians, but when the doctor came into the room, her rough handling and loud voice made my cat very upset (she hid under the bed for two days!). The doctor began to scream, I mean yell loudly, at one of the technicians, who finally just ran from the room in tears! Then, the doctor began to yell at me, saying that my horrible cat had completely ruined her day, and that she did not have time to put up with this. I should have walked out, but let her finish the exam and vaccinate my cat?????? all for the low, low price of $120!!! The staff had politely explained that my cat needed some teeth cleaning and flea control and stuff like that, they even gave me information to take home and look over. The doctor told me that I was irresponsible for not already knowing all this stuff, and was neglecting my cat. Isn??????t that the reason for going to the vet??? To learn how to care for your pet? Trust me, you can find another vet who knows just as much stuff, but does not mistreat you, your cat and her staff.

I am SO glad I switched vets. AVOID

by hilaryba at Citysearch

My cat had acute on chronic kidney failure a few weeks ago. On the Saturday that he was really sick I called and left a voicemail at Lexington Hospital for Cats and then decided to take him to the Emergency Pet Clinic when I didn?t hear back after 20 minutes or so.

They didn't return my call that weekend (I thought they did cat boarding), they didn?t return my call during normal business hours on Monday even?. Or ANY day after that!

Monday morning I had to transfer him from the Emergency Pet Clinic to the vet ? at that point I had to choose where I was going to take my cat. I wasn?t feeling comfortable or confident in going back to them at that point since I was pretty sure he would need to stay overnight. I wanted to be sure there would be someone there to deal with emergencies and keep an eye on him (my new vet is in Versailles.)

Later I managed to get a running list from Lexington Hospital for Cats about my cat?s previous medical info. This was just a running list of items listed on the invoices. My cat had been sick once when he was a kitten and they had told me that he was just dehydrated. Now that I know more about Kidney Failure I now see that on that list from when he was sick that they did b loodwork and tests associated with checking kidney function (b lood count, Urine Specific Gravity and Creatinin.)

I called them back and asked if I could get the numbers from those tests. They said they didn't have them. I would have let it go at that because having records from 1999 is a little far back and I can accept that.

The receptionist however was like "why do you need them" and I said about two sentences about the current kidney failure and wanting the numbers either as a baseline for his current situation or to know if they didn't tell me something that they should have. I wasn't quite completely done talking when she said "ok, bye bye" and hung up. This was completely inappropriate.

The staff cares about your cat.

I don't understand the bad reviews about prices here. they are comparable to another great clinic in lex, gainsway (as well as most vet clinics in town).

I have used both for my cats and dogs since 1998. the doc and staff give all of the options for the best care for your cat. there are inferior places that might charge less but i love my cats and want them to live a long healthy life. lex. hosp. for cats is highly recomended.

  • Pros: caring staff. clean professional office. cleanest in town~~
  • Cons: no GOOD vet care is cheap

A Complete Nightmare!!

by commiered at Citysearch

This place is literally the most expensive and unprofessional place in Central Kentucky. Their prices are 2 to 3 times that of a normal, adequate vet. One significant mark of a bad business is "extra packages" or "extra charges" that are pawned off on you that are completely unnecessary. Alice, the vet, uses a lot of scare tactics with your animal, knowing that people care deeply about their pets and are willing to spend a lot of money to maintain their pet's health. The scam is rooted in the fact that many of the procedures used are so excessive and unrelated to the true nature of the pet's ailment, it almost constitutes fraud. My cat will NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!
