A Sense of Community

by flourishstudios at Citysearch

Since I had spent election night with friends at Natasha's, we decided to do the inauguration celebration there too. What I like about Natasha's is the sense of community that is fostered by the place. For example. in honor of Obama's inauguration, the restaurant prepared a huge "inaugural ball" made of chocolate ganache and gave everyone a free (and scrumptious) desert. The distribution of the ganache was done with great fanfare, with much good humor and was followed by dancing and merrymaking of all sorts. Natasha's is the place for intellectuals, bohemians and other oddballs to find themselves happily ensconced in a community of like-minded equals.

Even though i currently live in the Louisville area, on the night of the Inauguration i wanted to be where i felt at home and comfortable. The first place that came to my mind was Natasha's. I'm so GLAD that i went, i enjoyed the evening and got to be in the company of wonderful people having a happy celebration on the best day of my life! OH! Did i mention the chocolate dessert?

One of Lexington's Most Happening Places

by MeriahKruse at Citysearch

I had a great time last night at the newly renovated/expanded Natasha's Bistro. They have a knack for creating environments that attract interesting people out for some good community fun, music and yummy comfort food. The party to watch the Inauguration was a great success, well attended with lots of celebrating going on! The new large format video viewing screen is a real plus (can't wait to see the indie films they have planned...) I have eaten there many times before, and always get good service. On this particular night, my waitress was very busy due to the large crowd, but she checked in with us several times, apologized for our wait, which was about 30 minutes. When the food arrived, she apologized again; I enjoyed two of my favorites: Midnight Chicken (a curry dish) and Tomato Pesto Pizza.

  • Pros: Environment, menu, decor, varied offerings and activities

Terrible service and rude management

by Kate1890 at Citysearch

I went to Natasha's last night, extremely excited about having a fun evening out, and was horribly disappointed. The food was okay, but it was 25 minutes before we were even acknowledged at our table (and still not by our waiter, who would walk by and pointedly ignore us), our food took over an hour and a half (we timed it), I had to get up and refill our (soft) drinks myself, and when they did bring the food, my soup came right before our meal so I couldn't enjoy it, the food was lukewarm, and my dinner partner's salad didn't even come until after the meal. I went to speak to the manager about all of this, and he was extremely rude...he kept telling me in a sarcastic tone that he had hoped for more 'understanding' patrons who knew how these things went and rolled with it, and that, for the 'most' part, they had that. He started lecturing me about the food service business, and I told him I had worked in food service for years, so I know exactly how it is, and I also know how customers should be treated. The service was terrible and the food not so great, but all of that could have been okay if we had gotten a sincere apology (all the waiter had to do was stop by and say 'You know, I'm swamped, and I'm sorry, but I'll be with you as soon as I can.' He didn't even apologize the one time he stopped by to drop off food). But a manager being rude and obnoxious to a customer with a valid complaint is absolutely unacceptable. I will NEVER go back to Natashas, and I would warn anyone who might consider it. There are so many wonderful restaurants in Lexington, both chain and local...why waste your time at a terrible place like Natashas?

Cool urban bistro in downtown Lexington, KY!

by jordan1977jones at Citysearch

Natasha's has got to be the coolest restaurant in Lexington! It has amazing food -- a real eclectic variety of dishes. I had a spicy Asian stir-fry dish -- but they have tons of other good things -- other Asian dishes, Mediterranean, Eastern European, Russian, and local favorites too! My boyfriend had their Buffalo burger -- and totally loved it! The atmosphere is of another world -- well MANY worlds! Their decor is from around the globe (some of which you can buy in their attached boutique). VERY cool Moroccan lanterns!! We were lucky enough to catch some live music, but were told they do theatre too! Dorothy, this ain't Kansas (or KY) anymore! No really, you feel like you're in an urban loft -- in Tribeca -- or some place very cool like that!
