Great service, OK food. WAY overpriced.

by 9524tee at Citysearch

Every person we have dealt with here have been wonderful and bright eyed.

The food is NOT that great though. The locals must not get out and eat in other cities much... I've had to eat here a few times due to others wanting to go and try it out. I've also tried about 15 different items on the menu. Some are pretty good but nothing outstanding for the money. It looks nice inside though, I'll give em that.

The wine list could use some help as well.

Best Steak I have EVER had!

by Scarlett1970 at Citysearch

Ate here after a UK basketball game on a Saturday night. We didnt go until about 8:30 or 9, so the place had cleared out some. Everything was great. We didnt wait too long for our food. I had a filet that was cooked perfectly and the whipped potatoes which were unbelievable. The famous salad didnt do much for me, but the rest of the meal made up for it....btw, they have the best bread and seasoned butter I have ever put in my mouth! Our waiter was wonderful and recommended a great wine to go with our meal. The bill wasn't really too bad, I would rather pay a little extra for a great steak than something gross like Outback. The only drawback was that Oscar's was packed, but we got there too late. I can't wait for our next trip to Lexington so we can go back!

  • Pros: Best Food Ever
  • Cons: Can't Think of One!

Simply the Best

by jfb429 at Citysearch

I travel the Northeast for work and spend 174 nights on the road. 90% of my meals are in restaurants. I have been to a lot of "PRIME STEAKHOUSES" I love Gene & Georgetti's, Morton's, Del Frisco's, and the Old Homestead. I've been ordering filet two times a week for over 25 years (thats 2,600 filets), I have to say I've never had a better Filet (med/rare) than at Malones. I stopped with two business associates on the way back from Atlanta and our Marketing Manager is still talking about it! The service was 5 star. The bottomless house salad and fresh bread was over the top and the overall experience makes you feel comfortable and welcome. Then there's the live piano music in Oscar's. We went in there for a after dinner drink and the music was terrific. Before we left I noticed a Malone's at home counter. I ordered the gold pack and had filets shipped to me. Those steaks on my grill was incredible. Value to dollars spent it's well worth it. Keep in mind your at a "prime steakhouse" not an Outback. I can't wait to visit again. It's only a 6 hour drive from Michigan. Anyone up for a road trip?

  • Pros: The best steak, great service, good drink
  • Cons: parkings a little crowded, so we used the free valet it was great.

Great Dining Experience

by dickedm at Citysearch

Malone's is on the top list for Lexington, KY. It is just as good as some other A+ places that Nashville and Louisville have to offer like The Palms, and Morton's Steakhouse. The food is just as good, service is excellent, and the drinks superb. The price is even a little cheaper than Morton's and The Palms. I recommend the Filet Mignon medium/medium rare.

  • Pros: Atmospere, Food, Drinks
  • Cons: Louder on weekends

trendy and overpriced

by cowboycoffee at Citysearch

Staff is great and professional. Best Steak, Not even close. The atmosphere is not worth the double your price cost of a good steak at other steak houses. Its a trendy place to be seen. I cant afford a Hummer or Benz to drive to the valet.

Great Steak

by purpanda at Citysearch

Malone's has become THE steak house of Lexington. A bit expensive and very popular, they serve up the best money can buy. Look out for long wait times on the weekends.

  • Pros: Super Steak, Atmosphere, Popular

Good food

by mstebnicki at Citysearch

Finally a steak worth eating in Lexington! Overall it was a good experience since we were a large group. Service leaves a little to be desired. Wait staff brings the scale of the place down a couple notches.

  • Pros: Food
  • Cons: Service, Price, Loud

not that impressed

by dwvict2 at Citysearch

i have gone to malone's a few times and each time I am unimpressed. It is loud, crowded, and the staff is not very knowledgable. I can not really complain about the food, but I never feel like I get to enjoy it because the staff makes me feel rushed and the noise is at times unbearable if oscar's is full. While it may be the best steak in lexington, it is not the most enjoyable place to spend and evening

  • Cons: loud, expensive, poor service
