Just drive to Louisville for beauty treatments, I give up on this town.

I have never had my hair done there before, but then again I only go to high end salons for that. I usually get a quick brow wax there and mostly never have problems. Mostly. I usually let anyone there do a wax because I have my shape and it is not a big deal. I won't name names but there is one person there who BURNED ME both times I saw her and left a mark that lasted a week on my face. FYI, once you wax the first time and you miss something do not go back over it with wax again. Get out the damn tweezers and do some work! One burn I could understand, it happens, but twice is too much for me. I won't be going back.
- Pros: Fabulous space, great products.
- Cons: Not a lot of talent.

I thought the service here was great! I have always gone home to get my hair done because I have had the samy stylist for so many years, but I was relieved to find a good salon in Lexington to save me the drive. I thought it was very professional and a good environment. Natalie cut and colored my hair and it turned out great. She listened to what I wanted and I really enjoy the cut. I get compliments all the time on it. I would definitely recommend this salon.
- Pros: lots of skill, great environment
- Cons: none
Best Salon in Lexington

I have been going to this salon for the past several years. I have never walked away disappointed. The girls and Troy are like one big family. I love to go and relax. They are so eager to help one another and get along very well. I have never been to a place that you don't feel tension between the staff, but here you can tell that they work very well together. Leesha does my hair on a regular basis and have never been happier or looked better. I am always getting compliments on my hair. If you are looking for some place new I encourage you to try this salon. It is top notch!!! Way to go Troy and staff.
- Pros: Very professional
- Cons: None
STOP!

I will never step foot into this salon again!!! They destroyed my hair are very rude, unprofessional and just awful! I am from NYC and very use to snobby people who think they know it all and have NO problem paying top dollar for what I want, but when I come out looking like Edward Scissor Hands got a hold of my head, ya know you got problems! Do yourself a favor and stay clear of this place!
- Pros: NONE
- Cons: Bad Bad Hair

I was really nervous about my appt. because of these negative reviews, but I had a great experience! I didn't see the owner, Troy, while I was there, so I can't say much on the comments about him specifically, but my stylist, Danielle, was very sweet and did a great job. She wasn't snooty or ditzy or anything like that. I will definitely be going back.
- Pros: Modern, funky atmosphere. Danielle throws in a scalp massage before the shampoo
- Cons: Not the cheapest, parking can be tricky during the day b/c its downtown
Horrible customer service!

I loved this salon and was a loyal customer to J Allen Studio and Spa, that is until they messed up my hair. I had been a client of theirs for a couple years and never had a problem. The only time I was dissatisfied and asked for a refund, I was treated horribly by the owner. Now you have to understand that before asking for a refund, I simply asked that they correct the problem. They flat out refused! The only way they would fix my hair was if I paid them even MORE money. The owner of the salon called me a liar and accused me of just trying to get my hair done for free! I finally got a my refund after repeatedly calling for a week. Needless to say, my hair never got corrected either. Whatever happened to customer service? I highly recommend avoiding this salon, that is unless you enjoy poor service and rude beauticians.
Avoid at all costs!

I am done attempting to make this salon my salon. I have asked repeatedly to not use blonde highlights in my very, very dark hair. At one point over the past year, I came out with so much blonde, I looked like one of Hugh Hefner's girlfriends. I asked for them to fix it, and I was met with "How dare you question our styling?" I didn't realize that trendy and hip meant being rude and snobby. Troy, the owner, encourages this behavior by displaying angry and rude behavior of his own about his stylists and the clients. On many an occassion, I engaged in mockery of other clients with Troy and my hairstylist. I felt awful about it, but I laughed along with them as to not be the next target of their wrath. I will NOT be going back their again!!
- Pros: Smells nice
- Cons: Untrained stylists, Rude management, high price for low quality products
