Bouncers Rude and Promotions False. I've been to two keys before for other events and have been treated badly by the bouncers but I went again for their advertised Halloween costume contest this past weekend for a chance to win a Jeiger machine! Sounded like a fun time. However when it came time to judge the costumes only six or seven people were on stage, only two of which even had decent costumes. I went around to the stage entrance to get on because I definitely thought that I could easily beat anyone up there.

The bouncer told me that I couldn't, because the only people allowed in the contest were picked by the bartenders. So in essence they filled an entire bar(and jeeze was it crowded) by selling people on a costume contest that was rigged from the start. This definitely has to be against some sort of fair business law. Pathetic attempt at a promotion and gives fair warning to stay away from future ones. Unless you're a friend of the bartenders of course....

Excessive Use of Force. I liked the place until a dumbass, fat wanna-be bouncer decided to kick some guy out for popping his "precious" balloons. Because we know he spent all damn day blowing those up. Much to this bouncer's dismay, I was very sober at this point and witnessed the bouncer grab the guy by his neck and escort him out literally one minute after another bouncer approached the guy and chewed his ass for popping the balloons. The infamous balloon popper was apologetic and did not speak back AT ALL to the guy bitching him out over the balloon. And out of nowhere, tubby comes and grabs the guy by the neck. Even a police officer couldn't get away with the excessive use of force this tubby used. Two Keys - you have lost the respect of MANY people who witnessed that. Have fun with the remaining white trash that will be hanging out there. If you have class, don't go to this bar.

New Owner..Great Bar. Since the bar has gone under NEW ownership many things have changed that have really caught my eye. The bar is a lot cleaner and more friendlier. With the new ownership it has forced them to cracked down on underage people. It seems like any night you are in there something new and exciting is going on. If you dont have Cats tickets you cant beat Two Keys Tavern. With a new High Def 3d projection screen, its by far the biggest around. This place is starting to become the bar is used to be! Two Keys just adds to the list of reasons why being a Cat is the greatest tradition around!! Congrats to the new owner and staff.

Threatening and Unreasonable Bounce Staff. Two Keys is perhaps the most over-rated college bar in Lexington. Catering to a largely undergrad (which is fine) and underage (not so fine) audience, the bar staff and bouncers operate as though they're operating an exclusive club, as they kick people out on a whim.

After a drunk patron tried to pick a fight with my friend, who was trying to pass by on the overcrowded patio, my friend and I were forcefully removed from the premises by the bouncers, two of whom made numerous threats. As one nearly pushed me over, I grabbed onto his arms. He said, "Don't touch my arms or I'll really f**k you up." The bouncers offered no explanation for escorting us off the premises, and they joked about it with the person who originally tried to provoke a fight. Ryan McGuffin, an on duty Two Keys manager, stood and watched as his bounce staff made threats and used excessive force, but he was unwilling to answer questions.

Don't go here. They'll take your cover and then kick you out.

The top go-to bar & grill for University of Kentucky types. Two Keys Tavern is ground zero for UK fans who want a "Big Blue" bar and grill experience. It's at 333 South Limestone Street, next to the northern end of UK's campus. The tavern occupies the entire ground floor of a three story building. It has an outdoor drinking patio that is also fairly large.

The pricing is modest, the drinks are plentiful, and it is absolutely packed on many Friday and Saturday nights with the 21 and up UK crowd. Live bands and big screen TV's are also part of the experience. This is the quintessential "Wildcat" hang-around pub, and has been for several years.
