McCarthy's Irish Bar

McCarthy's Irish Bar is a fun watering hole in the heart of downtown Lexington. Patrons range from the University of Kentucky Senior/Grad/Professional school set, to the just-got-off-work white collar types, and beyond. It's a young person's place late at night. The bar is really two bars in one. It's small, intimate, has a wide drink selection, and the prices are decent. This is also the type of bar where people come to meet other people. It's not too crowded in the afternoon, but late night can be busy. The back side of the bar has an enclosed, open-air, partially covered expanse where you can step outside with your drink. Outdoor seats are also available. There is no cover charge, it is open to the wee hours, and it is authentically Irish.

Jam packed in this little horseshoe shaped bar with a little patio out back. Great fast service with a good crowd of 20somethings.
