PMD Direct Bait And Switch
by johndoe123456 at Citysearch
PMD Direct is a nation wide chain that at one time had 100's of franchises but has less than 40. Their entire marketing strategy is Bait & Switch ads on Craigslist and a few other classifieds (these are the guys that flood CL with their mattress ads every day, no store name only a phone #).
Their whole strategy is one of Fraud. Advertise a mattress set at an unrealistically low price with the intention of never selling you that set (if they actually have it there or not)
To sum up their operation imagine the sleazily used car lot but instead they are selling furniture and multiply it to a nation wide operation.
The main corporation is being sued by the franchise association on how they treat the franchise owners.
IMHO this is a company to stay FAR AWAY from!

I have been trying for over a week to get SOMEONE to talk to about resolving my sagging (only 8 months old) mattress and all I get is a runaround. Good luck to future purchasers-buyer beware!!!!!!
Best little furniture place you've never heard of

I had a private showing with my wife and was allowed all the time I wanted to look at all the items. Everything there from Grandfather Clocks to bedroom sets plus dining rooms, living rooms and mattresses. All sooked like pretty good quality and some was absolute Top-of-the -line. I got a package deal that was better than the individual price and negotiated the delivery fee.
- Pros: Price, quality, selection, value
- Cons: selection not too much variety
Furniture store scam

I shopped here after looking everywhere else for a good price on furniture. I was lured in by such good prices but to no avail. Bought a couch for $300, my fault for not wallowing on it before I bought it. When we finally got it up to our third floor apartment my roomie went to wallow on it and slammed his tail bone into some severly unpadded wood. The couch was cheaply made and horribly assembled. The back fabric was coming off, the "cushions" were not padded at all and were sagging in six months. Not to mention the cushions wouldn't come off so you could add your own padding. Within a year the couch was sitting on the curb, with no stains or holes in it, no one else picked it up either. I replaced the couch for $75 with a used set that is fifty times nicer than the thing I bought new from PMD. Was not impressed at all!
- Pros: Inexpensive comparably
- Cons: you will pay in the long run when you have to replace what you bought here
Uneducated people write bad reviews...

My family has been in the furniture business for over 40 years. PMD is now one of the top 100 furniture companies in the whole U.S. Private label furniture is more common than you think...there are many manufacturers that sell private label lines to stores. Even the top mattress companies make it difficult for customers to cross shop - they can cover every stores mattresses with different covers or call it something different. PMD is completely legit - they get overstock and discontinued items from brand name manufacturers and (due to their high volume of sales) the manufacturers will make private label for them. You get what you pay for when it comes to furniture. Obviously you will not get an amazing mattress for $169 - but that is common sense people. After being in the industry for so long, it is exciting to see a company that has figured out a way to keep costs down and pass on savings to customers. If you are on the search for furniture, this is a great place to look and can often provide shoppers with a great deal!
- Pros: great deals, range of prices and quality
